Seeing as I am now going to become a locksmith, I am attending school. The one year of school I need encompass basic mechanic skills and such. Which means I need to learn how to lathe, among other things.
Lucky as I am, I got to make something I wanted to make. Mainly because of having a great teacher, and also because I finished the required work fast.
So I made this! A lightsaber. It is made entirely of aluminum, even the buttons. Since I am still new to lathing, I didn't want to make something with functional buttons. So this has mock buttons. One for start (the one I painted red) and one for length (the knurled knob or whatever).
I can post the dimensions if anyone cares to know, but you see the size when I hold it.
Since this is just for display, I didn't make anything special at the top, other than a hole. Which is why I didn't take a picture of it. Might make something more special on my next one, which I want to make. Might be able to use a CNC lathe for that.
All in all it took me about.... 30-40 hours? Something like that. Way to much time really
